if you need proof racism exists
A Book Project on Present-Day Racism and Injustices in a World that Claims Racism is No Longer Present
a quick word from me
Before I dive into the details of this project, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is LoLo, and I'm an Ohio native whose life's work has been dedicated to fighting for equity and equality for people of color. You will come to find that I am not important, but the people who I write about are. Having lived my own unique black experience for years, I've witnessed firsthand the impact of oppression and institutionalized racism on my community. And despite the progress we've made, it's clear that we still have a long way to go.
The creation of this book was important to me.
I was tired of seeing people dismiss the role that racism has played – and continues to play – in shaping the everyday lives of black and brown people. It's critical to highlight how it has influenced our thought processes and infiltrated the systems that govern our lives, creating rules that have always put us at a disadvantage, leveraging our culture and likeness for white supremacy benefits.
By providing tangible facts and modern stories, I hope to illustrate that we still have a lot of work to do to right the wrongs of systemic racism – not just in America, but worldwide. Dispelling the myth that racism is a thing of the past is crucial if we want to build a more equitable future that benefits us all culturally, emotionally, and economically.
Let's be clear – racism is not a figment of our imagination. It is very real and very much alive, and we need to acknowledge it if we want to make progress. I'm committed to providing a reference that challenges this myth and empowers us to combat the forces that seek to suppress our realities, our history, our experiences, and most of all, our progress.
the book
"If You Need Proof Racism Exists" - Stories of racism and injustices to debunk the myth that racism no longer exists.
This book is a significant project that aims to document and share the stories of numerous instances of racism and injustice in our modern world. It provides insight into how racism has affected individuals in various aspects of their lives, including their profession, business, housing, community, finance, banking, health, food accessibility, education, media, judicial system, beauty, culture, and religion.
Despite the pervasive notion that racism no longer exists, this book uncovers the reality of everyday racism and how it impacts people's lives, even when it is not as explicit as a "White's Only" sign. It serves as a tool to educate those who believe we should stop focusing on race, showing why we cannot turn a blind eye to the many places where racism still hides and why it is critical to address and eradicate it.
Moreover, the book highlights the legislation, victories, and positive changes that have emerged from exposing racism for what it is. By honoring the stories of the brave individuals who shared their experiences, we can take up so much space to push racism out of the room. DEI warfare will not silence us from educating and equipping people of color with what they need to fight oppression and falsehood.
data - important
63% of White People Believe the Country Has Gone Far Enough to Give Blacks Equal Rights
It's important to consider how far we have come as a country in terms of equal rights for Black, Indigenous and Hispanic populations. However, we must also acknowledge the ongoing issues of systemic racism and mistreatment of non-white races in America. It's also crucial to examine our role on the global stage.
42 % of White People Do Not Believe the Legacy of Slavery Affects the Position of Black People
This finding is scary. To believe that 400+ years of slavery and blatant discriminatory practices post-slavery, with records of these discriminatory systemic practices showing up in the Supreme Court as recently as 2023, have no relevancy in the position of Black people in America? Hmm...
